Community-Led Remembrance

Dedicated to honoring those Coloradans lost on September 11, 2001, and preserving their memory for future generations. This 25th Anniversary commemoration is also a tribute to our local heroes—the first responders, veterans, and healthcare workers of the Arkansas Valley who embody the spirit of service every day.

Organized by local volunteers and the Citizens of La Junta, this event spans 14 historical and memorial sites across our community. Our commemoration includes the dedication of a permanent granite marker at Fairview Cemetery and a Time Capsule to be opened in 2051.

From our schools to our cemeteries, we stand united with our local service members in the spirit of courage and remembrance.

Our Mission: Bridging the Memory

As we approach the 25th Anniversary of September 11th, the citizens of La Junta come together to honor the fallen and celebrate the resilience of the American spirit. Through the Sgt. Brian Cowdrey Memorial 5K, the dedication of "Living tributes" and a community-wide Time Capsule burial at Fairview Cemetery, we ensure that the lessons of 'Never Forget' are passed to the next generation. > This is more than a ceremony; it is a promise to those we lost and a legacy for the citizens of La Junta of 2051.
